View Full Version : Free Run Comp
Silas

Just throwing a date in there just to get a feel for what folks can do.
I want this to be a free run comp... no money...no payout... just basicly an orginized crawl.
We will follow the rules from USRCCA.com's site, but since its a free run, I feel that we shouldn't dissallow rigs that don't pass pre-race inspection (this will just be noted to show where you may need to adjust your rig for a future comp). This is not limited to NCRCC or QCB member, but open to anyone, so spread the news!!!
I would like to do 3 corses, run 2 heats and 1 main.
Location is TBA, but for our first, Bullhole is a nice happy middle for most of us. But if you would like to do this elsewhere, post it up.
Also if you feel a better day works, lets post that up to and decide on something that most everyone can make!!
Location... Click Here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=7693886744032279197,35.811758,-80.560588&saddr=&daddr=35.806485,-80.563667&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=16&sll=35.808208,-80.560126&sspn=0.012755,0.028539&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16)
What say ye?
Edit 0.1* Since there seemed to be a good small amount wanting to do this that day, I have removed the tentative fromt he subject.
Edit 0.2*Schedule for the day... We are going to run the tech per the rules, but will allow you to run if you fail. I want to get everyone aware of the regulations first, and not keep anyone from having some fun!!!
9am will be sign in and tech. I think we can get this in before 9:30.
9:30 start Course 1 of 3 and go from there. I know a few folks that have to get back home early, so we may run 2 courses at once.

April 12th is great for me because that is the only day I will have off for the next 2 months. I have to work 7 days a week after the 12th. I was thinking of going out to High Rock this Sunday just to see where it is, but it is over an hour away for me. I might just go to Bullhole to do some more testing on my crawler.

Aye, Captain, Sunday be fine for this salty old dog. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/verkleidung/costumed-smiley-058.gif
I have an idea to speed tech along...
Everyone running stands in a big Koom-bah-yah circle, you hand your truck to the guy to your right, Captain reads the rule list and we check the truck in hand, you hand the truck back to the owner. Now all the trucks are teched at one time and we're on to the fun. Easy, simple, fair and no way for anyone to complain about favoritism. I ran in a little 3 wheeler club years ago and that's the way we did tech inspection before races.

I had a great time and NEVER thought that an RC event would ever give me the same feeling as a 1:1 trip would but today prooved me wrong. Now I have the itch and will be keeping my eyes out for setting the camera down and picking up a controller. I have over an hour of footage to upload and edit. Will be a couple of days probably. PM me music suggestions for the vid.
*Silas, if you know of a way to send me your footage I would love to have it to throw in also for a longer video. And thanks to you and Donovan for taking care of everything. I am going to read through the rules so hopefully Jon can compete next time and I will judge.
