Double pump trigger??

I watched a vid. on u-tube about the New axial RTR Truck. The Guy showing all the feature of the truck said, I had a "double pump trigger" to keep it from going straight into rev. the first pump is brakes then push it again and you have rev. Does any of You guys have to to this on your rigs?

If you use a drag brake, it's really not neccessary. I have it set high enough that I don't really hit the brake. I release the throttle and the truck stops, then reverse is there. At least that's how my RC crawler No0B mind sees it.

I think it is just a saftey feature so if u bump the trigger forwards it doesn't go into rev. it hits the brakes instead, so you don't get pts added to your score.

I think he was just trying to make it sound like it was a feature, but it's actually pretty standard for ESCs with brakes and reverse. The idea is that you don't strip any gears by going from forward to reverse at high speed.

In my opinion, for crawling you want heavy drag brake and instant reverse. The drag brake will prevent your wheels from turning backwards even on a hill, so you don't take points. Instant reverse is good to keep from flipping or falling when working over an obstacle.

When I got the Wheely King at first, the esc didn't arrive for about a week, so I put in a Traxxas XL5 ESC that I had spare. It has the brake/reverse action like you describe - when moving forward, pressing reverse engages the brake. Then you go back to neutral and to reverse again and it drives in reverse. I was not able to control the truck nearly as well like that as I could with heavy drag and instant reverse - I wouldn't go any other route.

Lock Out Reverse is what I have called it...

You have reverse...but you have to bump it, and then go into reverse to get it to run backwards...

I don't use it, don't feel the need...
