I was browsing around and really like the look of this tube chassis. I'm sure there are better AND cheaper, but is this something that would work against me if used on an AX-10? Or is there something MUCH MUCH better. I do perfer performance over looks.

Its made specifically for the AX-10 so it isn't going to work against you. Its a direct bolt on swap for the most part. Its setup for a droop suspension setup, so take that into consideration.
There are alot of other options out there for tubers. Most of them require custom links and such.
Heres a few.....

Well those chassis looks very good. And very 1:1 like.
Either way I'm thinking outta the gate.
Wheels & Tires $100
Chassis $100
SideWinder ESC $60
I wont rush the chassis though. Still have all the little nitpick stuff to get which I dont know alot about. Aluminum straight axle kit maybe.

Idk how much RC experience you have, but all the ones I posted require a little knowledge. Just a heads up. You'd have to add the cost of links and maybe drive shafts into your budget.
Also what kind of motor are you wanting to run? Brushed/brushless?
I've talked to a good number of people who have said that the Castle Creations Sidewinder and Mamba Max DO NOT work well with a brushless motor. They seem to glitch pretty bad at slow speeds for some reason.

With a sensorless motor there's a good chance of glitch on the bottom end.

BA$R has a good point I know your RC knowledge is way up there but a tuber is a different animal
making the list,
you can get a kit for around $250 shipped
If you did a scratch build you would have about $100 in new axles and $50 in tranny, then start adding chassis, suspension links, steering links and shocks, servo, hardware and batts plus BA4R's list.
Doug If I were you,get the kit ,add tires and the electrics , drive it make changes as you feel necessary. :thumb:

Yep.
They say that the Quark 33 can handle the low end and is really good route to go if you want to run brushless.

For the time being a chassis will be pushed a little further down the list for me. So the answer is no, a chassis isnt something I need to concern myself with just yet.
I'm will be running the SideWinder ESC with a Integy65T brushed motor, Spektrum DX 3.0, & SR3000 receiver.
