Here is a map to the river area that they hold runs... I might want to head out some time soon and see how good this place is.
Anyone up for a run out there?

Went to check out Haw River today. Courtnee wanted to spend some time with me, so we went hiking... to a future crawling spot for us :)
I know the CRR guys have been there a few times, and I can see why. Its not a bad spot. The water was high, and there where a few puddles on the rocks, but with a little dry weather, and it would be good to go. Parking is a pain though!

hey Silas;
We have had comps on both sides of the river. Parking is easier on the West Side, but there are more rocks on the East side. The rocks yield almost an endless supply of courses, they are just really really smooth. Wheel speed helps out there.

Yeah... I noticed that it was smooth and blue... a strange, weathered rock for sure...
I didn't go to the west side...though I thought about it, but we went on down the road.

They look manufactured...

They do look fake or from some SciFi movie set. I can see where wheel speed and grippyness would be important.

Walking out on those rocks for the first time is pretty strange. KInd of get the feeling your on a different planet or something. The CRR comps at Haw River where some of our best. What may look like an easy line for some. Is actually pretty hard because of the rock surface. We had some pretty cool courses over there. I liked the east side better. The rocks are smoother but the parking sucks. The west side parking is better. And the rocks seem to be a little more jagged.

I went here today and it was a great spot. I went on both sides, and WOW there are a lot of rocks in that river. Took me a little while to find a good crawling spot on the east side, as it can be a small hike in the woods.
Driving took about 2 hours 15 mins, but I did get lost a bit around Pittsboro. Weird rocks too, look very weathered from the sand that is all over the place. Can't wait till we have a comp there, as I can show you guys the perfect line on most of those rocks.

I'm very interested in a comp there. Those rocks look like a challange....

Where is the best place for crawling once I get to the Haw River? Is the best place by the river or do I need to hike into the woods for the best place?

My favorite spot is on the west side. Walk down the trial by the river until it comes out at some rocks. It's not far and the rocks are high and dry.

Where do I need to park in order to get to the rocks on the west and east side od the Haw River? Do I need to finf a trial to get to the rocks? I am going today if I can get some directions to the rocks. I have the map and GPS coordinates, just want a little more specificate directions. Thanks.

I hope you got to crawl yesterday. Though with all the rain lately the river was probably up so there were less rocks to do so.

Didnt get to go yesterday so I went today. The river was high and the only rocks I could get to were close to shore. I did have fun and cant wait to see what the river looks like when the water goes down. Here are some pics of my time at Haw River.
