What is a good aftermarket driveshafts to run? I'm poping plastics. Seems I got my crawler hooking good, and the next weak link is the shafts. I anyone has some extra aftermarkets they want to sale... Let me know.

I use plastic Stampede shafts with a female at each end and a piece of male in the middle and I havent broke one yet or twisted on off. I broke the stockers in no time.

Yep, me too. I run Traxxas shafts and haven't had any problems since I switched. You may also consider a slipper, they save all sort of broken parts.

The MIp shafts are great, the RC4wd Punisher shafts are not.

Is a slipper transmission better than a locked transmission or does it depend on the driving style?

hey

If your run high power you should have a slipper on a shafty.

My AX-10 has a slipper. The Copperhead does not. The Copperhead has a RC4WD R2 w/dig. I'm not sure if they even make a slipper option. Ruthless Race told me he uses the Thunder Tech shafts with no probs. They look really beefy.

I assume you guys are saying Stampede axle shafts because they do not have drive shafts.

Yep, it's the axle shafts we're talking about.

I've been running stampede shafts for a while. I didn't break a one until I installed the 7t cobalt. Now I've broke 2 at the splines and spread the ears on alot. Not sure what I'm going to next. I drive very stupid most of the time without a slipper. So I'm asking for it. Right now stamped shafts are pretty cheap to replace.

If you buy mips or thundertech the next weakest link are the outdrives on the tranny and they are a pain to replace in the field. If you get some CDW or VF steel outdrives then the next weakest thing I would assume are the plastic tranny gears or plastic spur gears. For what its worth, I have only seen one stripped ax10 tranny on RCC but I have seen numerous R2s stripped.

The mips or thundertech drive shafts will go for about $40. The steel outdrives are even more. You can buy lots and lots of traxxas shafts for that ammount. I think they come 5 in a bag for $7 or something like that.

A slipper is cheap ($25) and easy to install too, that would eliminate the need to keep replacing shafts completely.

TRUE...but I kept tightening my slipper to the point where I basically didnt have one because I was annoyed when it would slip. I guess I just try to drive out of stuff that I should have been in to begin with.

Well, we all go there, it's the nature of the hobby. I guess it never bothered me since most all RCs I've owned have had a slipper, it's one of the first mods I added to my kit. I do run mine a lot tighter than they say in the install instructions and did snap stock shafts with it in there, but modded Traxxas shafts have been doing me good so far. I have it tight enough that I have to really bind it for it to get into the slipper, but I'm sure it saves something in my driveline most times I run.

I geuss Im going to have to pick up a set of the MIP shafts for mine. The Stampede shaft hold up great and I havent broke on yet but I keep breaking the pins the snap onto on the u joint deal. Dont really know if there is a upgrade for that or not.
