those leaky factory (AX-10) shocks make me sad, what are you doing to combat this problem?

I turned mine upside down and added internal springs, they haven't leaked since....

They all leaked prior to that, I think I'm going to Big Bores actually though.

Hey

If you use generous portions of green slime (AE product) in the area where the shock shafts passes through, you may eliminate the leak and the shocks will be smoother.

it seems like the oil is coming from the top cap (located at the frame), the factory o-ring is gone cause it make the shocks pop apart, would teflon tape help act as a gasket to stop the leaking

I'm trying to make a set of Aluminum bodied Losi XXX-NT shocks work. I was having nothing but problems with leaking & tops popping off. Course, the guy I got mine off of had them put together wrong to begin with & it kinda screwed up the threads on them.

Well, I'm trying the AX10 plastic shocks one last time. At this point, I'm not using any external spring. I cut down a set of stock Mini-T springs. I'm using about 70% of the spring under the piston as a droop spring, and about 30% (2 full wraps of spring) & the bump stop spacer above the piston. I have just under 2 1/2" of belly clearance, and a ton of droop. It also gave me about 80* of articulation! I'll have to report back and see if they leak.

One thing that I did notice is that if I put too much oil in the shock, and then full compressed them, they'd blow their tops in a heartbeat!

the stock shocks are way too long any ways, I run 3.50" buggy shocks on all corners.
