Well guys I was bored and thought I'd finally read my instructions for the Novak Rooster Crawler ESC and noticed that it said to run no less than 4 cells and no more than 7. So does that meen I cant run the 8 cell split pack I just ordered for the front axle? At the moment I am still running the 6 cell stick pack (4200 Intellect IB cells) on the original battery plate. I am concerned about switching anyways cause of the run time difference and power difference, I made up a 6 cell split and didnt get near the run time or power, I was thinking about just putting weight on the front axle and leaving my battery where it is. I am getting an 1hr and 45 minutes run time out of this battery I am using and only 45 minutes out of the smaller 6 cell split, I would like some input from you guys to help me to decide what to do.
thanks Brandon

I am running the Rooster Crawler, and also an 8 cell saddle...
I am not having an issue at all, and don't get any over heating and such!
I get an hour plus run time, and today, ran 4 courses, and 30 mins of bashing after the comp and the battery finally died...
I don't want to tell you that its a good thing running the 8 cell and the rooster, but I have had no issues at all to date!

I know that threadlocker is running 8cells on his novak crawler and has not run into any issues. But thats not to say you won't. Also dont make the same mistake i did, make sure you can charge 8cells...;) Worst case you fry the speed contoller and upgrade to a Sidewinder for 69.00 at the Hobby Stop in Rock Hill...but call ahead make sure they still got them in stock.

Well upnover I wont be traveling to Rock Hill to get a ESC anytime soon LOL, I am going to stick to the Rooster for now it is new and seems to work great, I think I will try weight on the axle with the battery where it is and go from there and see how I like it, You know us WV people we do stuff different.:D

Most ESCs can be run a cell or two over there rated load. All the manufacturers build in some cushion. You will however void any warranty (if you admit to using 8+ cells) if something were to go wrong. MMs are rated to 12 cells, I run the one in my Revo with 14 cells all day long with no problems.

I wish you would just keep the battery up top on the factory tray. That way I could laugh as I crawled circles around you!

I did have a 4400 mah saddle pack. One time I ran it about 3 hours straight and when I charged it back up it only took in 2800 mah. I just split it up into 4 1100 mah
single packs. I don't know th e runtime on them yet.

I bet with 1100mah you'll still get 45 minutes or more from a single cell.
