View Full Version : 1st place Steering Servo
Shocker

I'd hate to say that I would have finished in 1st place :jester: last weekend with a better steering servo, but................................
Which leads to my next question, what size/type/torque rating steering servo are yins running in your 2.2 / AX-10 Crawlers?
Most of the vets @ RCC recommend no less than 200oz. I know Miller is running closer to 400oz. Others I think closer to 140oz. My crappy servo might have been 80oz if I were lucky. I guess I am just trying to find the sweet spot.
If my 1:1 wasnt costing me $1800 this week I would just go "balls out" and get a Hitec 333oz or the JR 400oz.
But trying to stay somewhat frugal, last night I purchased($50) the Hitec 5645MG that's juicin' closer to 163oz. Anything has to be better than the "dud" I was running Sunday. Fingers crossed it will do much better. It's not like I cant use it on another truck. :thumb:
But my main concern is which steering servo is really optimal for a 2.2 Crawling rig?
Thanks in advance guys !!!!!!

Something just doesn't sound right about an $18 400oz servo.....
This (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=JRPSZ650) is what I'm using and it DID take 1st place....

I have one on order and am going to use it for a back up. For 17.00 its worth it to me for a spare during comp days. I will try it and let you know. I know this is his second lot of these.

hey
9645 are great for the cost. Get some spare gears now. Not all the gears are Metal, just the top two or three, you wil break the plastic gears sooner or later.
Gears from a regular 645mg work in this servo.

Thanks Will. :thumb:
I thought we were in for another round anyway as many times as I had to back up after flipping. In my mind I had us tied after that last round, I need to study the rules more I guess. I can't believe I managed to flip it back on the wheels 3 times without touching. Maybe I like the ugly green Desert Rat body more than I thought. :jester:
