I am fairly new to rc and completely new to rc crawling. I do not have a crawling rig yet, I am trying to do some reading and understand the different vehicles and what is entry/intermediate/competition class. I must admit I am more of rtr guy right now just because I like driving more than cursing about why &%$# something isn't working. :)

I will try to make it out to the comp tomorrow. I am feeling a little under the weather today but hopefully will be better tomorrow. I look forward to meeting everyone.

hey

Welcome to the forum.

In RC Crawling rtrs are bashing/fun etc vehicles. The closest you can get to a rtr that can compete is the Losi Comp Crawler (or the Kyosho Rock Force).

But there is absolutely no reason that you can't buy a AX10 and see if you like crawling. When you start wanting to get serius, sell the AX10 and build what ever the hottest axles are at the time.

Thanks everyone. I just watched a video of the comp at bull hole. WOW, that was an eye opener. Before I had just seen general rock crawling vids on youtube. Watching the bull hole comp I can definitely see benefits of the higher end gear. Do people with beginner setups go through the same course or is there a "bunny slope" course?

Just curious, I see a lot of posts about axials but it seems like they have many different versions. Are most people using the new rtc version or older ones? http://axialracing.com/wordpress/2009/04/15/april-2009-product-release/

hey

The axial was the hot truck 1.5 years ago and is absolutely a great place to start. (and the most afordable way to get into a 1/10th)

It does not mater what version you start with, after you add a chassis of your choice and upgrade the tranny, they can al do equally well.

If you want to be serious about competing, come to a comp before your buy something.

(I think everyone on here owns an AX10 or has owned one)
