Well, I took the plunge today. I sent Truggies payment for the Sidewinder ESC that he was selling, as well as won an ebay auction for a Holmes Hobby Cralwmaster 3014, 1000kv brushless motor.
So, realizing that my existing battery would no longer cut the mustard, I picked up my first attempt into the world of LIPO, a Venom 3 cell, 11.1v 2100mah pack.
This is my first time with either brushless or with a LIPO, so I'm unsure exactly what kinda difference I'm in for from my old Tazer/45t setup.

Hope that ESC and motor combo works out better for you than I have heard.

The one for $7.25. Even with $10 shipping, it was hard to pass up for $17.25.

you should like the sidewinder if you like castle products and being able to adjust almost any thing that the ESC does with the castle link. and seeing that you have the brushless motor it should suit you well. it is the newer version of the ESC they just put out. I have heard of them having some issues but all the ones I saw were using sidwinders or mambas with brushed motors. We have brushed motors in all 3 trucks and the rooster just worked so well i desided not to use the sidwinder untill i went brushless. When I saw WV4WD was in need of a ESC i desided to part with the sidwinder seeing that we were not looking to go brushless anytime soon and all the stuff was still Brand New. Hate to see a man down. Over at RCC the Sidwinder or Mamba Max are what most of those guys are using, from what I read. I think Castle has the brushless stuff down pat. but being that I'm brushed I'll stick with my rooster. I have several freinds that race and they swair by the castle stuff because of the adjustability. add brake, take away brake, throttle curves all that stuff. It all sounds French to me, but thats what they're into and they can dial a car in really well with it. So you should be able to get that crawler working really nice if you're computer savey. I'm not so its rooster for me, we all run roosters around hear in the crawlers and if one of us has a issue we all know whats going on and can get some help.

There's alot to be said for the group running similiar equipment. The group that I wheel with in 1:1 Jeeps has a similiar mentality. It works well when things go wrong on the trail.
Thanks!

Hey there
I have some of the crawl Masters like the one you bought. It is very powerfull. I ran two of them in a Clod Super with dual Mamba 25s. The Side Winder should be perfect for the motor.

I just got the Crawlmaster 3014 brushless on it last night. I think I might have lost a touch of wheelspeed from the 45t brushed that I took off (it was probably a hair too fast, though, so not a bad thing). It's definately a torquey motor! seems to run smooth as can be. A different sound than I'm used to, though.

You like that 11.1v power? Broke anything yet?

I love the 11.1 power. I'm constantly breaking my right rear lower link end at the axle. I'm breaking one just about every pack I run!
So far, I've upgraded the drive shafts & the yoke ends, went to a straight rear axle conversion, and now I'm considering building all of my own links from Delrin & using Revo link ends so I don't keep breaking them.
I'm also considering pulling out the brushless in favor of a 35t Warrior.
