This isn't going to officially start until after Motorama. If it were summer, maybe, but there's not enough time to try to learn a completely new rig before going into a comp of that size.
So, here's the plan:
- T1e Stage chassis w/ Rockshow cab (thanks to Shocker)
- T1e rear high clearance links
- Rc4wd Bully Light Weights
- Dual Tekin FXR's
- Dual Tekin 35t handwounds
- CC BEC
- DX6i
- Hitec HS-5955TG
- VP DH ProComps on front (9.75" track width)
- VP SLW V4s on back (9.30" track width)
- HB White Rovers on Nova's Ark Foams
...oh, and it'll even match my 1.9 :D

An Axial AX-10 Betty body. Thats my last try.
That would be "factory" wouldnt it? Or OEM?
I got nothing ??????????? :hihi:

I'll see if anybody else ventures a guess.
I figured it'd be tough to guess, but I had a friend stop by yesterday and as soon as he saw them, he asked, "so, what are you doing for a body on your ****** now?"

Ding Ding Ding!!!
We have a winner. The bed area was messed up a bit on both, so I now need to replace the bodies on my Savages.
I'll send the servos later tonight.

After having some problems trying to get the bully axles to work with the chassis, I just needed to step away from it for a few minutes. Once I went back to work, I had fresh eyes, and I was able to get it mocked up w/ a 3 1/2" shock. The GTR's that I have on it right now have bent shafts and barely move, but at least I got an idea for mockup. Once the Evader ST front shocks come in, I'll be set.
As it sits, I'm at about 12 3/16" wheelbase at ride height & 12 1/2" at full compression, with 3 1/4" of clearance at the front of the skid and 3 5/8" at the rear of the skid. It's sitting right at 7lb, and everything that's going on it is pretty light...the battery is probably the heaviest piece. I still need to mound up the dual FXR esc's, the rx, battery, bec, cab, and body panels. Consider that I was at about 8.5lb before, that's a substantial drop in weight.
The biggest thing that I had to do to get this to work was to shave about 3/16" off the front of the battery tray.

It runs! I drove it around the basement for a couple minutes.
I'm still waiting for the VP SLW's & the shocks (the GTR's were for setup only).

I played with the steering a bit more today. I'm tired of bending servo arms and losing steering throw, but I didn't want to start grinding on the axle like 86jeep or 53 Willys, so I came up with something else.
I know the servo mount looks a bit thin, but I ran a season on the same thing without any cracking or wear on it.

Looks like you might be tight on space on the servo side once you switch your shocks out. Could just be the angle of the pic's though.
I like the way the white cab looks on the black chassis. That's why I had planned on going that way with mine. The RockShow Mike turned me on to that at ALRC. :thumb:
Nothing wrong with a little grinding :hihi: I didnt want to do it at first either.

It's not that I'm afraid of grinding. I'm just concerned with the amount of time I have before Motorama. I still have to replace a berg axle on a buddy's 2.2, finish his super, and build my super this week.
As for the shock, it's definately tight, but there's barely enough room to put springs on teh GTR's, so the smaller-bodied Duratrax shocks should fit fine.

I don't have any updated pics just yet, but here's the setup that I took to Motorama:
- T1e Stage chassis w/ Rockshow cab
- T1e rear high clearance links
- Rc4wd Bully2's
- Dual Tekin FXR's
- Dual Tekin 35t handwounds
- CC BEC
- DX6i
- Hitec HS-5955TG
- VP DH ProComps on front (ran a full 6 weights in each wheel)
- VP SLW V4s on back (no extra weight added)
- HB White Rovers on Nova's Ark Foams
- Traxxas Revo GTR shocks on all corners
- Losi Silver Mini-T shock springs setup internally
I'm right at 3 1/4" clearance at the front of the skid at rest, and the springs are so soft that while running their at about 1/2 compression. I was able to climb everything that I tried (that was climbable). The truck just flat out works. Other than an issue with my front ESC shutting off, the truck performed flawlessly, and any issues on course were due to my driving ability (or lack of ).
When setup properly (and it's not hard to setup properly), this chassis is a really great, well thought out chassis, that makes a club level driver like me look good.

I also appreciate the tips on the truck. I'll be incorporating your suggestions before my next comp.

Update time.
Since the last update, I've swapped out the Bully2's for light weight Bully axles with Super XVD outers. The tubes are ground to allow full steering.
Due to a problem with one of my Tekin handwounds, I'm temporarily running a pair of Integy V11 35t's.
I've also upgraded the servo to a Hitec 7950 mounted in the ever popular 86Jeep / 53 Willys configuration. I milled the axle and made the servo mount using 3/8" Delrin.
Here's max steering in a stock Bully2 axle (without modification):

I'm extremely happy with the performance of this rig. It handled beautifully yesterday. I drove to a 1st place finish in our club's 2.2 Pro class with a -9 on each course. (This was my first Pro Class win... and I also won 1st in Super!)
There was one steep climb that only 2 other trucks were able to do clean and both were running T1e chassis... 1 was a Berg Stage w/ Rockshow cab, and the other was a Losi on a T1e Stage chassis.
2nd gate:

Yeah, that was the first comp that we'd had at that location. The entire hillside was covered with rocks and then shot-creted. The courses looked insanely steep, until we ran them & realized how the trucks just stuck.

I'm gonna give the overall a helluva shot. I'm not going to get too worked up about it, though. I have no pipedreams that I'm any better than anybody else. Yesterday was just my day... and if the 1.9's ESC hadn't burnt up between gate 4 & 5 on the 1st course, I think I'd have placed with it, too. Unfortunately, the brand new B1R that I'd just put on the mini decided to let the magic forward motion smoke out. I'm hoping I can get ahold of a FXR to throw in it in time. I'm trying to get ahold of Brian of Brian's Hobbyland to see if he can bring me one to ECC.
I'm looking forward to meeting up with you guys down in 'bama. See you in a few days.

I'll mention the FXR to Brian, I've already got a small order too pick up from him but I need a couple more things. Maybe I can save you a little bit too, let me check.
There were a couple of FXR's at RCC F/S but I dont know if the sellers are ECC bound or not. :monkeyeye:
