Hey guys. I was wanting some input on a radio for my ax-10. I was thinking about just getting a spektrum Dx6. I'm used to sticks, so I didn't see anything wrong with it. Plus it's half the price of a DX3R! So is there any reason I should get a DX3r? Also I need to get a radio for the Mugen MBX5R I'm working on. Ok now I'm thinking DX3R. Do I need a 3 channel Radio for this or is it about responce time for driving? Also will I need a personal transponder for a DX3R? Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance,
Todd

Well I will take a stab at what you want to hear...
I like my DX3r... but I have no desire to go much more than 3 channels.
If you have a need to go with more than 3 channels then I would go with the Dx6.
I went with the DX3r for also racing other models, and having the 30 model presets was nice...

hey
I have a DX-6. I would rather have a DX4r (if they made one).
I think that the DX-6 is being replaced by a DX-6i. It apears to be a better radio, to gimbals on the DX-6 are low end.
I did play with a DX-3r at the East Coast Championships, I liked it. But I think the price is way to rich for what it is.

With Futaba coming out with a 4 channel wheel, Spektrum won't stay still for long... they too should have one coming out soon i bet!

hey
But the Futaba is going to be $500 and they want $100ish per Rx. And I am not sure if channel 3 and 4 will be mix in only/proportional/3 position or just two position.
If it is just a two position deal, then it might be difficult to do what I need to do to hide the fact that I can't drive.

Well the DX3R is a little high in price for just a 3 channel. The dx6i is almost half price of a dx3r and no I want need all the extra channels. My question is, is it worth the extra money? Stick or wheel is no biggie to me. I've drove both. But when I finish with my brushless conversion of my mugen MBX5R... I want a good radio for racing. The DX3R is list as a Pro grade radio, is the DX 3.0 and 2.0 not as high of grade radios? Is the DX3r faster in responce times or the same as the 3.0 and the 2.0 . This is where I know nothing about them. I've never used any of them. I'm not trying to break the bank, but I don't mind to buy it if it's worth the extra cash!

I like the comfort... I like the 4 batteries over 8.
I have never used the 3.0 or 2.0, but have used many Futaba's and like it much better.
I don't know if its really going to be faster than any other 2.4 but I do know that if your running more than 1 model, or more than 5, than this will be the only radio you need...
I picked mine up for 279 at the local shop... which was only like 50 bucks more than what they sell the 3.0 for at the same shop.

I have DX3r's at the antique barn in wilson for $289, and we ship to you too - if you want it. The dx3r has almost 2x faster response than the dx3.0, but I can't tell a difference in transit time. The RX that comes with the 3r is $99 bucks, but the regular spektrum 3000 works just the same for $69. It just isn't as fancy looking. The dx6 is an excellent radio, but the 100 some dollar tag is less servos, which would come in handy for digs, and I run that ds811 servo that comes with it as a throttle servo for my rc10gt and 8ight-t. I don't really see a need for more than 3 channels unless you want to run digs, rear steer, and maybe hydros or something?? Having sold lots of them, I just dont see the need for any more than the plain old dx3.0 which we have for $169. Having said that, I still want the 3r tho. Oh yeah. The nomandio is capable of 4 channels in a pistol style radio. I have also heard they suck. Haven't seen one in person. As a last resort I can get you a used Futaba 7c on cheap from the barn if you just want a stick radio. The only problem with tll these sticks is that they are an airplane radio, so the throttle isn't spring loaded. If I had a little better idea of the intended application I could steer you in the right direction.......
