View Full Version : Weird LiPo Behaviour

I have a 6000mAh LiPo for my Losi Nightcrawler. The other day I measured my voltage at 7.77v before my brother and I went out crawling at the bridge over Crabtree Creek on Ebeneezer Church Rd. We crawled for probably 30-40 minutes before my brother's NiMH ran out. When we got back I measured the voltage again and got 7.95v! Somehow the voltage increased with use?? Anyone seen this before?
What type of meter? The reason I ask, some meters aren't that precise. 40 mins shouldn't have used up half of that battery unless you held it wide open the whole time. I'd blame the difference in the meter.

It's a good Fluke 179. I had already ran it a bunch and that's why it was at 7.77v (rather than the full 8.4v) before I went out. I'm not too sure but I think I'm getting 3-4 hours run time from that battery. Just thought it was odd that the voltage increased with use.

Gonna tag along to this thread since OP found his answer but the title works ;)
So I bought my first round of LIPOs and had pretty good success. But I have two individual packs that have me confused.
Battery #1 is a 1300 mah 2cell. I bought two of these; one works great one would never take a charge. The charger sometimes reads "no battery" and will occasionally read "battery over voltage" with it connected via deans and also with the balancer connected
Battery #2 is a 500 mah 3cell I bought for my controller (spektrum) It came fully charged (thought you couldnt ship em that way?) and I ran it for a week or so in the controller untill it showed 9.6v and started beeping for low voltage. I went to charge it and reads "battery over voltage" but a voltmeter shows 9.2v ??
Any ideas? chances of rehabbing?
I do love the lipo though, just hate I struck out with 2 of 6 batteries; that brought the price savings down substantially
Do you have anyone else close by that has a lipo balance charger that you can try them on? That will tell you quick if its your charger or not.

YUP....
I tried them on my buddy's hyperion with a balancer as well as on my Onyx without a balancer and they read the same..
"battery over voltage"
one of em is brand spankin new, but I converted to deans so I'm betting they won't warranty it
Ill snap a pic of what I rigged up to charge the micro plug to make sure you people think it looks reasonable
