Now that I am back on crack (rc crawlers) I have been contemplating turning the old offroad R/C track here at my house into a rock garden. I don't have anything to race on it anymore and it is just a shame to see all that good dirt and space go to waste. Here is a few pics of the old track...

I guess I can't really call it old since we just built in Dec this past year although there is some grass growing up on it now. Needless to say I got burned out on racing really fast.

What do you guys think of this idea? I have 11 acres that belong to me here in Union County so it could be larger if demand called for it. I also have a new John Deere 3520 tractor w/ loader to assisit in moving dirt and rocks etc. with. In fact that is the only thing we used to build the track. Let me know what you guys think of this idea. If there is enough interest we will do it. ;) If you guys have some ideas as to what we could do as far as obstacles and such that would be great as well. :thumb:

it's 6am and you posted a race track with hopes for a rock/trail course. Let me pinch myself drink some more coffee. I'll get back to this post.

What I wanna know is why you built a track in Union county and didn't tell us over on QCB. :p It wouldn't be the old track, it would just be the HLP Raceway!

hey Harold;

Did you sell your B44???

I am throwing up a track within the next month at my house, and would love to add one to my fleet, especially if I can trade you a bunch of crawler parts for it.

The track didn't last too awful long as I realized racing just wasn't for me. I would have let you guys come run on the track anytime that you would have liked if I would have known about QCB when it was in good running condition.

The B44 is long gone. I sold it right after I ran it a few times. Racing is fun but just not for me. :thumb:

At the Barn we had good luck with pieces of busted concrete. I don't know what you have available to you. Maybe make some big climbs out of plywood and lay the course out like you want. Then pour concrete on it, and depending on the texture you want you could adjust the amount of aggregate you mix in. Stick on a couple pieces of riff raff along the way. Maybe some little pools you could drive through - a log bridge. Don't do like we did - make sure you put some plastic down first so the grass dosen't completely take over. I'm trying to think of cost effective ways of making it, but you gotta have some climbs. After playing at Battle Park, the man-made course at the Barn blows goats. Just keep in mind, it will be much easier to make the course than remove the course.
