has anyone tryed doing a 40/60 lenght (shorter front links, longer rear links) set up on thier 2.2 yet? i was thinking this might help with climbing and relly get rid of rear axel steer. the factory lower links are 98mm (3.85") long.

40% fronts will now be 59mm(2.32") long
60% rears will now be 137mm(5.39") long

i know ill have to shorten the front upper links and legthen the upper rears and do the same for the drive shafts.......

now my other question.......if you where to do this would you do it with alumin., delrin or carbon fiber links?

edited sizes the are in bold

delrin is like butter... it slides off rocks... Aluminum gets sticky with wear.... carbon will be lighter, and pretty strong, with some flex.

I would go Delrin!

I have seen a few on RCC run this setup and I want to say that they switched back after a little testing.

To each his own though. I vote Delrin links.:thumb:

This may have been the thread I was thinking of....

Opposite of what you want to run, with long fronts and short rears....

I really don't know how the torque steer & climbing would be affected. I can say that Delrin is cheap & easy to work with & slick over the rocks...and it's cheap I got 12' of 5/16" black delrin shipped to me for about $10.

The biggest problem I could see with a 60/40 setup is with rear driveshaft length.

Well with the VF dig... I had to hack off a good 1/2 inch on the drive shaft... so I don't see it being an issue.

Driveline should be fine, if not take 2 females and cut a male stick it in the female and glue one end , it's now longer when you put the female on the other end:jester:

I bought a pack of Traxxas Stampede drive shafts for like $5.00 comes with like 6 drive shafts and they are the perfect length to use with the Dig and would work for this as well I'm sure.
