Just preordered mine. Thought I would give one of these things a go-round since a lot of people swear by them. It seems that some beleive that you can get more turning out of a rig with a DIG than rear steer...
I picked it up from TCS for 72. bucks...

I'm planning on ordering one too.. I think there is a bit of backlog of orders to fill unfortunately. I should probably get the pre-order in asap. $72 sounds high though - is that with a servo?

no servo...and from what i read...thats an introductory price... its supose to go up after that... closer to RC4WD's R2D... its 104.
You could make your for sure...but it looks like too much work, and way to much space lost when doing it... so far the VF DIG looks to be the best one yet using the stock Axial Tranny...

I just read that these things are shipping out now... expect it anytime from 3 to 4 weeks after you ordered it if you ordered it in March.
I am not sure how long it will take to get from other resellers like TCS and such where I bought it, maybe another week on top of that or maybe even quicker.

Think a rear steer kit can turn this sharp?

I dont think it was a typo:(
As for the first come first served thing, I have VERY clearly stated multiple times that dealers fall into the same line as individuals. That means those individuals who ordered first get theirs before dealers who ordered after them. We released these to dealers an hour before the public but no major dealer orders were processed in that time...just those few rcc vendors who wanted one for personal use.
Bonus Line, email your transaction info to me at sales@visionaryfabrication.com and I will gladly refund your money.

And I hate it already!!!
Its a pain in the arse to install... lots of deburing, and smoothing out.
Parts don't fit just right, and I broke a allen wrench in part of it...
Plus, didn't realize you have to filp your skid, and that just blows cause I have to redo my electronics plate now!

That is the photo of the drive cog... it didn't fit on the shaft from the tranny... the set screw wouldn't tighten all the way and I broke an allen wrench in it...
I had to take a dremil and grind it all down so that it would fit...

That's crappy. They advertise that it's a drop in, apparently not. I think for what they're asking for it, you shouldn't have to start grinding or get a completely new chassis to make it work correctly.
"Bolt on dig unit with drive, freewheel, and dig for AX-10. Kit includes Dig unit with hardware, HD billet spool (front and rear output), servo mounting hardware and linkage. Just bolt in your Hitec 225MG servo, mount it up, and you are ready to dig."
Sounds plug and play to me....or at least that's what they claim.
They're delivery time isn't great either is it..... Call me a sceptic, but I won't be "pre-ordering" anything until it's shook out by the masses. I'm all about supporting the little guy, but he has to live up to his claims. :thumb:

Lee I will agree that there shipping is crap. As far as drop in and rtr, I believe Silas reworked is entire suspension prior to getting his dig. He also is running a spur gear that is bigger than a Farris wheel:p. Using Silases build to figure out the ease of the install for the VF dig is hard because he has made so many changes to his initial skid plate.

As I feel these are things in my control, and would work fine in a stock AX10, the grinding of the cog and throw shaft isn't needed. It seems when they fit the brass shaft inside the gear housing, it sweels, and the cog will not fit. This to me is poor machining, or just done to fast to please the masses.
Truely thats the only part I am pissed about... out side of that its truely going to have issues with my setup as I have tweaked it a lot.

I really really wanted one of those. Makes me think twice. Is it a complicated part? I've looked at them online and I can't see how they work... I could make one at work If i knew what it consisted of. Hate it didn't work out for you, especially after how long you waited.

Well I got it to work.... and looking at it, its the perfect design... just exicuted a bit to fast for the masses, and they just didn't clean it up well for a production unit!
It is really simple how it works... The case is used to lock the rear, the cog attacted to the drive output shaft is what drives the rear, and a neutral positon in the middle lest ths wheels coast...
there is a throw shaft with a cog ground on both sides that floats in the middle, and when the servo throws it to the tranny, the drive cog on the output shaft catches it... when the servo takes it out, it locks to the case of the dig, and when its in the middle, the wheels roll free!
I am not knocking the product! Just the exicution of getting it out to the public.

one more thing to add... the rear drive shaft Drive Angle is shot all to hell!!!
Its steep now, and I have popped off a drive shaft already just playing on the patio!
I will correct this with a new skid, and move the tranny up and let the front eat part of this.

what drive shafts are you running? I'm not sure if it'd help with your situation, but I've switched to the full 'pede shafts & yokes, and it's made a huge difference.

i have some #1951s that i will be using but using the axials for now. I will post up phots of the angle... its sick!
to give you an idea, read the install instructions, at the end they tell you to cut almost 1 inch total off the 2 shafts (1/2 per half). They aint that long to begin with!
Before the comp I will be converting them over...

Fellas if you got it you know that it is PIMP...I'm really digging the dig. It's working flawlessly and for those that are skeptical, dont be. It is great.
But was a real PITA waiting for it and setting it up(radio wise)...
