View Full Version : Rock Garden Build

A buddy and I went to a local construction site and picked up around 1 ton of nice rock. Add that to the bed full I picked up by myself the other day and I'd say I've got about 2 1/2 tons of rock to build a garden. They range in size from around 30 to 120 lbs, so there are some good size ones in there.

The RC crew or whoever like drinking beer needs to come check it out/build if you want.

Did a little Dodge sponsored wheeling today.........

Hey man how do you have you shocks set, re you running internal springs?

TCS medium internal springs with the stock spacer in the shaft below the piston acting as a droop limiter.

Hey, mobile crawling....I may just leave the rocks in my truck. :D

I would if it didn't affect my gas milage. Feels like I am towing a **** trailer.:D

Yep South Charlotte, clean the leaves out.

Yep, I am doing that as I move the rocks in. I've still got a truck bed full of the big ones to move.

Did a little crawling on it after the rain. The ledge in the first pic is just the start of that climb. I've got some bigger rocks that are going to finish that section off.

As Shane requested I removed all the leaves from the area leaving just dirt. So this thing is ready to be filled in the rest of the way. I've got another ton in the bed of my truck waiting to be unloaded.

WOW!!! That is completely different than it was. If you want to work on it some today after you are off for the day let me know. I have the night off and not on call like I thought. Sick but whatever. Some sunshine will help with the Vitamin D or whatever. Call me and let me know.

Also, I can't believe you were allowed to dig up the yard. Did you lay the slate walkway too or was that already there?

I laid the slate down on Sunday. Its not done yet either. I didn't really have to dig up all that much. That whole area was just covered in leaves. There was no grass under it.

Pics are up and you can find all of them here. http://ncrccrawlers.com/gallery2/v/Members/southern4x4/Charlotte+Rock+Garden/ The first few are the first stages of the build. Starting at 449 is the progress from today minus the hill section. Need to snap some of that area.
Here are some selected images of testing while we built and then a few of just down in it.

The video is only a minute and a half so there is no need for the rest of the song.

Will, let me know when you want to work on it some more if you want to get some done before this Saturday.

Will, call me when you are home for the day. I have two fully charged batteries and want to test the 1:6 in The Canyon. Also, if you aren't going to be doing anything with your 1:6, could I get the battery compartment lid? I can't find mine.
