If I have a ax-10 with berg axles it's a berg ?

If I have a Cliffhanger with HR axles it's a ?

what is what and why...

I would say it is what ever you want to call it. In a way if you look at it, if you want to be completive on a national level no one will have a rig that is all from the same company. From everything I have read on here and RCC, everyone modifies their crawlers. All the AX-10s and even the Berg kits are not really an AX-10 or a Berg. People change the chassis, transmissions, links, and axles if it is not a Berg kit. My crawler is based after the AX-10 but most of the AX-10 ARTR has been replaced. After market chassis, RC4WD R2 transmission with driveline disconnect for front dig, Complete CKRC drive shaft and yoke upgrade kit. Hell the only thing that is still stock from the AX-10 axles is the axle housings and the gears and lockers. Not even my electronics are from the original AX-10 kit. So I say it is up to the builder/owner of that crawler to call it what ever they want to.

That is just my $.02 since I don't even have my crawler yet.

I think it gets its names from teh axles... so it would be a HR'd Cliff hanger or a Berg'd AX10.

Upnover, Have you got back into your medication? lol! You have been in the air to long!!! So, I think your rig is classed as a 2.2 crawler. Not a berg. Not a AX-10. Just a 2.2 crawler, the class that is competes in. That is what I think your rigs is.:rockmonkey:

Just look at the VIN number to figure out what you crawler is ;) Because that's how its registered with whoever registers crawlers and that's all that really matters. :)

Ok... so you have a tube chasis with a Jeep hood, a chevy motor on Rockwells, and it has Ford Tail lights.... not registered.... what is that?

I would say if not registered and has a custom frame then go with the main components . . . engine and tranny. But guys never stop at just the engine and tranny, we say,"I got a 454 chevy big block with an astroglide tranny sitting on rockwell axles . . . blah, blah blah." And no one cares about what it is, just what it has. :thumb:

I think that he is saying that your being a bit out of line with your post. This is a tread to debate it and not just throw out all likelyhood of its true name or composition.

Need to calm it down a bit Yager.

I think that no matter what it is or what components are in it...its still a crawler and that is all it is period

Well my crawler can be called nothing more than stock :D but going back to the point I made about the main components of a car being the desiding factor of what you call the car . . . I think the main componts of the crawler should determine what the crawler is called, just like Silas said. So they are called crawlers in general, and if you want to get more specific then call them by their axle name. Can I get a second?
